In a bid to attract international tourists to explore Taiwan’s central and southern regions, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has teamed up with the Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corporation. Together, they present the “Buy One, Get One Free for International Travelers” promotion.

Launching globally on December 1, 2023, at 12:00 PM Taiwan time, the offer targets foreign visitors holding short-term tourist visas. To avail themselves of this deal, travelers can purchase a one-way high-speed rail ticket through designated platforms like KKday and Klook. The free ticket is applicable to the second person traveling within the same designated region, spanning high-speed rail stations from Taichung to the south, including Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, and Zuoying. The promotion will be in effect until May 31, 2024.
To sweeten the deal for the first month of the promotion (December 1 to December 31, 2023), foreign travelers who purchase high-speed rail tickets under the “Buy One, Get One Free for International Travelers” offer will receive a voucher. This voucher can be presented at the Taoyuan Airport MRT counter to exchange for a complimentary set of “Airport MRT Round-trip Ticket + Taipei Metro 72-Hour Pass.”
In addition to the rail promotion, designated platforms will offer extra discounts on attractions and accommodations in the central and southern regions. These supplementary packages cover discounts on hotels, amusement parks, museums, and guided tours. Travelers can customize their purchases based on their preferences and itinerary, ensuring not just transportation benefits but also cost-effective options for dining, lodging, activities, and shopping. This initiative aims to entice international travelers to explore the natural beauty and historical landmarks of southern Taiwan, promoting the development of the tourism industry in the central and southern regions.
Please note that this promotion is exclusive to foreign travelers with short-term stays in Taiwan. Long-term residents in Taiwan for purposes such as work or study are not eligible. Additionally, the promotional offer is subject to limited availability and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
